Iris 2008 Newsletter

Hello

Here is some additional information that you've been waiting for. Thanks for your generous support and interest in what is happening @ IRIS.

P.S.: The store looks more beautiful than ever. Stop in soon and plan some time to look around, try knitting on one of our new yarns (yes, we are serious!!!) and browse through the new books and patterns.

Classes

The schedule is attached. We've used a simple format this time. Call or email for more details as needed. Please pass the schedule on to friends who might be interested.

  • Watch for schedule updates @ www.irisfineyarns or future emails. Some changes are likely to be needed.
  • We've added additional options for beginners. You now can sign up Knitting, Purling, or Finishing only. Sign up for any of these once or more times as you prefer. Each is two hours.
  • Intermediate Skills Classes: Bring in any project and we will teach you the skills needed to complete it. This is a great flexible format - learn 2 color knitting, lace, socks, felting, cables and more.
  • Our sock classes offer you the option to work in your preference of gauge, needle style, heel style and cuff down or toe up. If you are new to knitting socks, we'll offer suggestions.

Special Events

Don't miss Takako Ueki's 3rd visit to IRIS - October 24 and 25. She'll have 50 garments with her including three new Setsuko Torii designs.

In addition, we're working on several additional special events. We'll announce them when we have the details worked out. We're always looking to stretch our experiences and these certainly fall within that parameter.

New Products

We hope you enjoy our new fall yarns. Products will be arriving weekly for the next two months. A huge shipment from Gedifra, Rowan, Nashua and Regia is here and on display now.

Congratulations TKGA Master Knitters Sue LeFevre and Kristine Snow!

Kristine and Sue recently received The Knitter's Guild of America (TKGA) Level I Master Knitter Certificate. To achieve this certification, applicants must submit 16 hand knitted swatches and accompanying written information per strict TKGA specifications and pass a rigorous review process.

Sue and Kristine participated in a Master Knitters' Interest Group that we offered last fall and winter. We're organizing another interest group - Tuesday evening starting in October. Call for more details. For general information; go to the KGA website www.tkga.com

We'll offer the Master Knitters' series again this fall or winter. Watch for more details.

Vintage Knits Display

Come in and enjoy the vintage knitted and crochet pieces that we'll be displaying during September. And if you have argyle socks or vests or any hand knit items from 1940 - 1960 that we could include, please contact us. We'd all be very appreciative.
