Fiber Rain June, 2013
Fiber Rain, a community art project, is coming to Appleton in June, 2013!!!
The goal of the project is to increase interest and awareness in the fiber arts as well as share, exhibit and promote their beauty. Iris Fine Yarns is pleased to be a sponsor of this project.
The main event, an outdoor fiber art exhibit, will launch at the Farmer's Market on College Avenue on June 15, 2013. (rain date 6-22-2013)
Fiber Rain volunteers will transform light posts, parking meters, benches, and flower beds into works of art! Many hands lighten the load and many hands are needed to make this event the first of it's kind in the Valley! If you would like to help by knitting, crocheting, or making a yarn donation, we would love to have you join us! Beginners and intermediate knitters are most welcome.
We have a started a Facebook page for all of us to share information, ask questions, post pictures, etc. Patterns will be posted soon. If you are on Facebook, search for "FR Volunteers" and request an invitation to the group. If you are not on Facebook, please contact Fiber Rain at: poemarose@hotmail.com.
Iris Fine Yarns will have a yarn donation box as well as patterns on hand. Yarn donations need not be full skeins, just clean and useable.

Bring Back the Band Community Project: Appleton Flag Day Parade and 5th Quarter at City Park, June 8, 2013
The Back Story - The UW Marching Band unit is always a huge hit at the Appleton Flag Day Parade. But they were not part of the June 2012 parade because no one sponsored them. So, IRIS stepped up and offered to raise the money for 2013. The students get $75 for their costs for the day….travel, parade, lunch and a 5th quarter plus some insurance and band manager costs! We’ve requested 40 students…so we’ve got to raise over $3000.
We’re selling these hats and headbands for $40 each (superwash wool and all are beautifully handknit). If you’d like to buy one, please call 920-954-9001) or stop in at IRIS.
