Knitting and Crocheting Classes
Learn to Knit or Crochet
We offer two formats for our beginning skills classes. You can learn to knit, purl, and do basic finishing skills by signing up for one class at a time (build your own schedule) or by signing up for a class series that meets four times and covers all basic knitting skills.
Learn to Knit for Kids
Mon–Thu Mar 29, 30, 31 and Apr 1 2-3pm $40
Students will learn to the knit and purl stitches and how to cast on and cast off.

Build Your Own Schedule

During the class, you will learn the knit stitch and to cast on
The Purl Stitch…Angela Juergens
Thursday 6-8 pm July 22 $20
Materials to purchase or bring to class: # 8 24” bamboo circular knitting needle, worsted weight wool yarn
To take this class, you should be able to knit and cast on.
You will learn the purl stitch and cast off.
Basic Finishing Skills…Angela Juergens
Thursday 6-8 pm Aug 19
Materials to purchase or bring to class: #8 circular knitting needles, tapestry needle, worsted weight wool yarn, two completed swatches in worsted weight wool (cast on 20 stitches, knit one row, purl one row until piece measures 4”, do not weave in ends).
You will learn to weave in ends, use mattress stitch, and pick up and knit
Classes for Beginners
To take these classes, you should have the following skills: knit, purl, increase, decrease, cast-on and cast-off
Basic Hat
Thursdays 6-8 pm Sep 9, 23 $40
Materials to purchase: Knitting Pure and Simple Pattern #223 Basic Hat and Mitten #6 double point needles and #6 circular knitting needle, 190 yards of worsted weight yarn, tapestry and needles.
You will learn to read a pattern, determine gauge, knit in the round using circular and double point needles, decrease, pick up dropped stitches and weave in ends.
Classes for Advanced Beginners
To take these classes, you should have the following skills: knit from a basic pattern, increase, decrease and knit in the round.
Socks on Double Points Top Down and Lightweight
Thursdays Nov 4, 18, 25 $58
Materials needed: #2 double points, Knitting Pure and Simple Beginner Light Weight Sock pattern # 216, 100 grams sock weight yarn of your choice, tapestry needle
You will learn to make socks with a heel flap: select appropriate yarn, read a pattern, knit short rows, pick up and knit and kirchner stitch
Wrist Warmer/Fingerless Mitten with Cable and with or without Beads or Thumb
Thursdays 6-8 pm Oct 7, 14, 28 $58
Materials needed: 2 oz DK weight yarn (2 balls Sublime Cashmere Merino Silk), Knitting needles size US 3, tapestry needle, 1 cable needle (or one double pointed needle), 4 stitch markers), pattern.
You will learn how to read a pattern, knit with beads, and make cables.
Knit Labs
Any Skill Level...taught by Phyllis Gillespie
3rd Tuesdays of every month; 6-7:30pm June 15, July 20, Aug 17, Sep 21, Oct 19, Nov 16, Dec 21
No registration required. $5
Knit Lab is a time for you to join other knitters and start a new project, get assistance with something you already started or use swatches to learn skills such as finishing, cables, lace patterns, picking up stitches, etc.
